Jon Speer is a local singer-songwriter from West Burke, VT. Although he has been writing songs for almost 35 years, he only recently began playing around the local open mics at the end of 2024 and has found a wonderful and supportive community who share his love for music. Although he was brought up on a good diet of grunge and rock and roll, Jon has naturally gravitated towards acoustic guitar from the beginning and over time has honed his skill in Travis style picking which helps him to achieve a dynamic sound, even when playing solo with bass, lead, and rhythm parts, all happening simultaneously, and sometimes while he is singing! He almost exclusively plays original music and his goals for 2026 include sharing those songs in more venues and getting started on a formal album, not likely to be released before 2027. His style would be described as Americana, Bluegrass, Indie-Rock, Country, and R&B.

Looking for a fun way to spend your Friday night out? Grab your smartest and wittiest friends and get ready for a night of laughs, competition, and great beer. Trivia with Taylor & Harry is the third Friday of every month at The Den - whether you are a trivia guru or just here for the good times, you’ll have a blast!

April Patterson Clemens is a Vermont based indie-folk singer/songwriter from Texas. Beginning with garage bands in high school and then an alt-punk band at nineteen, she met a group of musicians in New York and travelled to Vermont, becoming part of the burgeoning Burlington music scene in the duo Blackthorne Wilderness (one of Seven Days newspaper’s Seven Bands to Watch). She later recorded her solo album, Heart in a Golden Cup, and, after various other projects including the introspective Steamboat Wonderlust and the jazz pop cover band Chanteuse da Boom, moved out to the country where she met Cobalt, the best damn guitar player she’d ever heard.

Cobalt Tolbert is a French-American singer-guitarist and has been rocking around Europe and the East Coast for over a decade now. Covering a wide range of styles, yet with a heart firmly rooted in the world of rock, Cobalt has played extensively as a solo act, as well as a duo with sibling Titien on drums. His other myriad projects and bands include the folk-rock act Carter Glass, the psychedelic classic rock Guano Loco, and the prog-punk Coquette. A known rockstar in Central Vermont and Paris, France, Tolbert brings flare and style to April's roster of original songs with his amazingly versatile guitar playing and exquisite ear.

Together, they bring to life April's extensive and ever expanding catalog of tunes.

“When she sings, Clemens channels medieval spirits with a rich, earthy tone that bends itself ethereally, the way water bends an image. Ghosts seem to wander through one song to the next on the controlled quiver of Clemens’ voice. Heart in a Golden Cup sounds as if it were recorded in a holy space, an ancient forest or medieval cathedral. Subtle, echoing vocals cast melodic shadows throughout the album. The poetry of Clemens’ lyrics and the beauty of her voice, accompanied by a simple, steady guitar, are at the heart of this album.” ~Alaina Janack, Seven Days
